My Shrink Plastic Obsession

This is a collection of my best tips and tricks to working with shrink plastic successfully.

  • Although you CAN color both sides of your shrinky dink, the side facing down when u bake it will be ruined

  • If you use fine tipped Sharpie markers on top of colored pencil, your markers will not last very long.  if anyone knows how to prevent this, please let me know.

  • Line your pan with very flat brown cardboard, like a piece of cereal box. Don't use corrugated cardboard because your piece will not come out flat.

  • THIS IS THE BEST TIP OF ALL!  Trying to flatten a curling piece shrink dink with anything is risky. A Much better method is to find a metal cookie rack or screen that you can lay across the pan while not letting it directly touch the pieces. Then, they will curl but they can't fuse. Don't take them out until they are lying flat.
